Born on 23 June 1958, Mukesh Khanna has turned 66 today. The name of Mukesh Khanna brings to mind the look of ‘Shaktiman’. Recently, Mukesh Khanna has revealed about his struggle before being selected for the role of Bhishma in BR Chopra’s Mahabharata.

When Mahabharat’s ‘Bhishma Pitamah’ had to face a struggle

Mukesh Khanna, who rose to fame as Bhishma Pitamah in BR Chopra’s ‘Mahabharata’ before becoming popular as ‘Shaktimaan’, has given the credit of this show for bringing a big change in his acting career. The actor has revealed that he was so saddened by his continuous flops that he refused to face the people.


‘People called me a flop actor…’

The actor said in an interview to Times of India, ‘Before getting the role in Mahabharata, I had done many films which were big flops. People called me a flop actor and I was very unhappy with the way things were going. When I used to travel by train, people would recognize me and ask me if I was Mukesh Khanna, but I would deny it and say that I am his brother. I just did not want to face people.’


Mukesh Khanna further said, ‘After Mahabharata, my life took a new turn and I am happy that I played the role of Bhishma Pitamah in ‘Mahabharata’ and people loved me for it.’ He further said, ‘I would like to give a big credit for my role in ‘Mahabharata’ to Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza, who wrote our dialogues. He used to tell me how his pen used to keep writing about my character non-stop after seeing me. At that time, Bhishma Pitamah had made me a famous name in every household.’
